Gabble/
Real World, the company owned by our investor Peter Gabriel, approached great fridays for the development of a desktop prototype of their text-to-image application, Gabble.
Gabble, a concept originally conceived by Peter, is a visual dictionary application that that takes static text, and translates it into animations from a database of some 14,000 images.
Having successfully created an Adobe Air desktop version of the app, Real World wanted to take Gabble and push it onto a platform that would allow it to be enjoyed by multiple users. That platform was Facebook.
great fridays engaged with Real World to create a user understanding from which we could define who'd be using the application. We undertook a technology analysis to gauge how the app would perform on Facebook. The necessary branding and functionality was added so that it conformed faithfully to the original design.
Launched in July 2010, Gabble Facebook now has over 50,000 users and is quickly becoming a must have application for 13-17 year-olds. Gabble has been a great success and continues to grow. Keep a look out for the Gabble iPhone and Android apps in 2011.
