Database Engineer/
Reporting to the Lead Architect. The Database Engineer can work with minimal supervision. Initiate high-level design of database concepts to enterprise Microsoft SQL Enterprise environments ensuring a high level of availability of the core database applications. Take responsibility for database hardware and applications ensuring they are maintained and documented to the highest standards. Design and architect enterprise database environments and present/create concepts, issues and solutions to the Lead Architect.
Requirements
4 year degree in Computer Science or related.
Highly motivated individual with the ability to work as part of a development team.
Strong DBA track record and expert knowledge of MS SQL server including SQL 2005 and SQL 2008.
Development of automated database maintenance utilities.
Expert knowledge of client connectivity TDS/TCP/IP packages including ODBC.
Possess an expert knowledge of database performance and tuning optimisation tools and techniques.
Hands on experience with disaster recovery techniques and database failure contingency planning including Windows 2003 multi-node clustering.
Experience with transactional replication required.
Design and architecture of complex database systems including data warehousing.
SQL Server 2005 SSIS functionality and deployment.
SQL Server 2005 reporting services experience a plus.
Desired
Financial information systems experience supporting live trading or related field a plus.
